Lewington Homes have recently converted our loft into a master bedroom and ensuite. We were so impressed with their service that we also asked them to refurbish our bathroom and will, in the very near future, use them to modernise our kitchen.
Below is an extensive list of their endearing qualities.
Our initial enquiry was responded to with a visit within three days, and, on submission of our architect’s plans, a quote was provided within a week. (Of the other ten local builders we approached, five responded and only two offered quotes, these arriving some six weeks later.) Work started on the target date established some four months prior, and the building materials even arrived during the week before. All work was completed by the end date requested (seven weeks in total). At all times throughout the project, Richard Gray was immediately available (daytime & evening) and resolved queries speedily.
Quality of Work
All materials used (eg. light fittings, door handles, timber) were of a very good quality and the end product is impressively robust, easily serviceable and neatly finished.
Hugely Impressive Work Force
Lewington employ numerous staff and consequently were able to work quickly. At times up to seven men were working in our house. All workers were civilised and considerate. They treated our house with care, attempted to be as unobtrusive as possible and made polite conversion when appropriate. The work ethic of all workers was staggering. They arrived promptly at 0745 each morning, paused briefly for one short tea break and a lunch break, and at all other times worked fiendishly hard.
Accuracy of Quote
The price quoted by Lewington did exceed the quotes provided by the two other building contractors that eventually responded to us, however, these quotes both stated that not everything was included in their approximations. Richard Gray from Lewington went to great lengths to stress that his prompt quote included every conceivable expense and, very pleasingly, our final bill did not exceed his quote.
All in all we are delighted with the service that Lewington Homes provided. We enjoyed the company of their workers and appreciated their courtesy, care and incredible work ethic. Both ourselves and visitors admire the quality of our loft conversion and bathroom. Without question, we wholeheartedly recommend them to fellow home improvers.

Now that the building inspector has signed off your hard work of the past few weeks we can stand back and admire the transformation to the front of the house. What seemed so simple on paper has in reality been extremely complex and you and your team have worked miracles to such an extent that it is hard to see the join. What has really impressed me is the way your lads kept going through some dreadful winter weather. Snow and storms couldn’t stop them! In addition it has been a delight to watch your project management always being one step ahead of the game. As you know I grew up with a critical architect father and I have inherited his requirement for high standards. It was pleasing to see your construction team working to such standards and I would have no hesitation asking you to undertake more work should the need arise.
Finally can I say a big thank you for working close to the estimate arid keeping the unforeseen extras to an absolute minimum.

We commissioned Lewington Homes Ltd. to remove a single storey garage and build a two storey extension with a double garage and rooms above, integrated into the main house, while also extending the kitchen.
The work commenced punctually on the agreed start date. Throughout the build we were extremely impressed with the quality of the work and high standards that were maintained until final completion. We monitored the progress by liaising with the builders and our retained surveyor; and by taking photographs at regular intervals throughout the build. The extension was completed on time six months later and we were absolutely delighted with the result.
A further observation would be to comment on how courteous, trustworthy and respectful the builders were, both to us and to the property in general (they maintained a very tidy building site, and never failed to take their boots off when entering the main house !). They were also very careful to ensure that potential child hazards were avoided so that our children were safe to play in the garden. The team of builders were all very professional and competent; being extremely well led by Richard Gray. They always listened to our ideas as they occurred throughout the build, and never failed to give sound advice. We have now come to the end of our defects retention period, and have had very few defects to be dealt with. Those that were found have been very quickly dealt with, and were largely cosmetic in nature.
We would not hesitate to recommend Lewington Homes, and Richard Gray in particular to any potential customer.

I am very happy to record our pleasure at the manner in which the extension works here were carried out. Not only was the project completed within the agreed timescale but, despite some welcome additions and variations, the cost was contained within the original budget. I particularly appreciated the close working relationship we were able to achieve which enabled us to achieve better solutions to design problems and to integrate the phasing of the work to avoid unnecessary delays.
I was impressed with the general tidiness of the site, despite access difficulties, and the overall management of your workforce. It was reassuring to be able to leave the property in your care while we were away for appreciable periods.
The standards of workmanship and care over finishes have been extremely acceptable, and the snagging list has so far been remarkably minimal. I am looking forward to completion of the second phase of the development in a similar manner.

I chose Lewington Homes Ltd for the construction of a single storey extension to my three bedroom semi-detached house. I was delighted that the work commenced on time. The builders worked hard, including weekends where necessary, to ensure the commissioned work was completed in the agreed timescale.
Throughout the project the works were overseen and well managed by Mr Richard Gray and the work was undertaken to a very high standard. Due to my work commitments I was unable to spend very much time at the house whilst the building work was being done and so I was very pleased that my neighbours were very complimentary about the builders and said they were always well mannered, considerate and courteous.
I was delighted with the work undertaken, so much so that I had Lewington Homes Ltd undertake additional work, laying a travertine stone floor through the kitchen, dining room and utility room, fitting a kitchen, replacing the boiler, building a retaining wall in the garden and painting and decorating much of the house.
Throughout the project Richard was always contactable and he called me on a number of occasions to ensure I was happy with the work and discuss various matters in relation to the build. Richard also ensured that all additional work was quoted for before it was undertaken to ensure there were no unexpected costs.
